Safeguarding

The churches of The Benefice of Aldermaston and Woolhampton are part of the Diocese of Oxford in the Church of England, whose Archbishops, Bishops, clergy and leaders are absolutely committed to safeguarding as an integral part of the life and ministry of the Church.

Safeguarding means the action the Church takes to promote a safer culture. This means we will promote the welfare of children, young people and adults, work to prevent abuse from occurring, seek to protect those that are at risk of being abused and respond well to those that have been abused. We will take care to identify where a person may present a risk to others, and offer support to them whilst taking steps to mitigate such risks.

The Church of England affirms the ‘Whole Church’ approach to safeguarding. This approach encompasses a commitment to consistent policy and practice across all Church bodies, Church Officers and that everyone associated with the Church, who comes into contact with children, young people and adults, has a role to play.

The Church will take appropriate steps to maintain a safer environment for all and to practice fully and positively Christ’s Ministry towards children, young people and adults; to respond sensitively and compassionately to their needs in order to help keep them safe from harm.

The ministers and PCCs of the churches in the benefice take our responsibility to safeguard all Gods people very seriously. Each of the six Churches have adopted the Church of England's national policy for Safeguarding Children, Young People and Vulnerable Adults entitled ‘promoting a safer church’.

You can find the corresponding safeguarding policies for each of our churches on their individual pages:

  1. St Matthew, Midgham
  2. St Peter, Woolhampton
  3. St Peter, Brimpton
  4. St Mary the Virgin, Aldermaston
  5. St Nicholas, Wasing
  6. St Mary, Beenham

Each person who works within our church communities will agree to abide by their policy and the guidelines established by this benefice.
This Benefice appoints Katherine Moir as the Safeguarding Officer.

A Warm Hello

The following information is specifically for those planning a visit, so that you know, beforehand, what to expect on a Sunday morning.

Where and When

There are services across the benefice in our six beautiful churches and details can be found on the 'Our Services' page.   Our worship is a mixture of contemporary and traditional.  Refreshments are served after all the services and we invite you to stay for a cuppa - it is a great way to meet people, or simply take time to find your bearings.

BOOK TICKET HERE – Sun 8 AM (IN-PERSON) Holy Communion Worship Service – Christ Methodist Church, Sun 3 Jan 2021 8:00 AM - 9:00 AM

What about my children?

Children are welcome at all of our services, particularly the  more contemporary services.  We really value worshipping God all together as a family.
