St Matthew's is the friendly Anglican Church for Midgham Parish. St Matthew's stands on the top of a hill overlooking the Kennet valley. Church services in Midgham date from 1622. From then until 1714 they were performed in a chapel in the park near to the former Midgham House. Mr Benjamin Buck Greene, owner of Midgham House, arranged for construction of the present church which dates from 1869. The architect was John Johnson. The Church is open every day from 9:00am – 4:30pm.
St Matthew's is one of six churches in the Benefice of Aldermaston and Woolhampton. For information about the Benefice, including who's who in the ministry team, Benefice news, services in our other churches, and events and activities, please click here.

Donate to the "Restoration of Midgham Church Organ" Fund
Please help us to raise the £40,000 that we need to restore our historic organ.
Every gift matters to us.
You can donate in the conventional way but we can more than double the value of your gift if you are willing to donate via the Greenham Common Trust “The Good Exchange” website.
This is because the Trust will match your donation AND will recover the tax you have paid on it, via Gift Aid, if you are a UK taxpayer. This is how to do it:
- Go to the website https://thegoodexchange.com
- Select “Donate”
- In the “Search for” box type “Midgham”
- When the results come up select “Restoration of Midgham Church Organ”
- Click on “Donate now” and follow the instructions.
